Welcome. This website serves as a space to share an overview of my interests, philosophy, experience and current projects as an educator, educational researcher, and engaged citizen. My work examines the inextricable link between sustainability and citizenship, and the role of youth (participation) in this process. I firmly believe that when youth see themselves as community participants, ‘place-makers,’ and civic actors, locally and/or globally, personal, collective, and socio-ecological change can happen. Relationships and relational thinking are prioritized in my orientation to teaching and learning, to research, and to community engagement.
“If you look at the science that describes what is happening on earth today and aren’t pessimistic, you don’t have the correct data. If you meet the people in this unnamed movement and aren’t optimistic, you haven’t got a heart.”
(Paul Hawken, 2007, Blessed Unrest)
